Smashing it at the Back of the Pack
I am The Slow Coach, and run at the back of the pack. I have lots of experience and knowledge to share, and I am a UK Athletics Coach in Running Fitness.
Come and join The Slow Coach Gang and see what we can achieve together.

I am a runner.
For most of my life, I have been a runner. I am not a competitive athlete, but I am a runner. I have always described myself as a runner, not someone who jogs occasionally but a serious runner who has participated in hundreds of races ranging from five kilometres to ultra marathons (over 50km). I have tackled fell races, road marathons, hill marathons and even the occasional triathlon.
With almost 40 years experience running over different distances on different surfaces and over 15 years as a Jog Leader with Jog Scotland, and a UK and Scottish Athletics Coach in Running Fitness license under my belt, I thought I might try my hand at inspiring the next generation of runners.
I am passionate about providing the same level of opportunity for coaching for those athletes who run a bit slower at the back of the pack but with the same grit and determination as those who are up there at the front. No matter what level of runner you are, coaching can help you reach your fullest potential.

"Thank you to Jane who coached me earlier this year, helping me towards completing a 10km in May. Jane was really patient and helpful throughout and taught me some important fundamentals about how to improve my running form. High knees anyone? Jane was so encouraging and positive, and I really appreciated her helpful messages before and after my 10km too. I'd encourage anyone to come to Jane, and feel the benefit that The Slow Coach can give to you and your running progress."

I was asked at the start of a race by another runner, who was clearly nervous for her first race, if this was my first time running 10km. I am always wary of how I answer this question. I could …
